ECEMS @ CSU-Pueblo child care provides outstanding programs for children ages 24 months through 5 years of age and is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (www.NAEYC.org). ECEMS offers a wide array of programs to meet the needs of university students with children; these include part-time classes in the morning or afternoon, as well as full or half-day childcare. Parents can also pick the number of days per week they need care.
We have 3 classrooms, a toddler and 2 pre kindergarten classrooms.
The toddler classroom serves children 24 to 36 months
Pre-K classrooms serve children 3 to 5 years during the school year and up to 8 years during summer months. In all our classrooms we use the Creative Curriculum (registered trademark), which is a nationally recognized, research based, child-centered curriculum. Teachers observe and document the children’s activities. The documentation is then used to assess where each child is developmentally in the areas of social emotional, cognitive, language and physical development. Assessments are used to determine next steps in the lesson planning process for the group as well as individual children. We also incorporate the project approach so children may explore deeply into an area of interest. Parents are viewed as collaborators with the teachers and children in this learning process.
